Anyways- I have written to the pet store here at Billings Bridge in Ottawa and voiced my disappointment. They offered the price of the dog back $900.00. I turned it down. Some might say I'm nuts...but I was prepared to pay that since I bought the dog in the first place. What I wasn't prepared for was $1700 of non-routine vet bills followed by major surgery , time off work, spending two weeks being my dogs back-end because I had to use a sling to help her walk..and finally, having to re-train her to do stairs at 12 months old. I figured that was worth some compensation no?
I went today with to the Billings Bridge pet store to get millet for the birds. While there we stopped, of course, to look at the budgies.

Karen Greenberg, co-owner of Little Critters pet store at the Billings Bridge Shopping Centre, said it is “hurtful, wrong-headed and insulting” to accuse all pet stores of selling puppies and kittens from mills. Little Critters is a locally owned and operated retail pet store in Billings Bridge Plaza. We have been in business since 1973.

When I purchased my puppy ‘Reese’, an Olde English Bulldoggue – or so I thought – from Little Critters at Billings Bridge, I was told that I could not contact the breeder to obtain more information on the puppy’s genetic/health history. I thought it was a bit bizarre at the time, but having never purchased or owned a dog before, I assumed pet stores vetted their suppliers and I could trust their word about the puppy’s origins. I proceeded with the purchase, paying top dollar for what I believed to be the breed advertised. As my pup developed, I realized that she did not resemble the physical traits nor personality indicative of an Olde English Bulldoggue.Karen Greenberg, co-owner of Little Critters pet store at the Billings Bridge Shopping Centre, said it is “hurtful, wrong-headed and insulting” to accuse all pet stores of selling puppies and kittens from mills. "We all agree that puppy mills are not acceptable. It is hurtful, wrong-headed and insulting to accuse all pet stores of being in league with puppy mills," said Karen Greenberg, co-owner of Little Critters pet store at the Billings Bridge Shopping Centre. When I purchased my puppy ‘Reese’, an Olde English Bulldoggue – or so I thought – from Little Critters at Billings Bridge, I was told that I could not contact the breeder to obtain more information on the puppy’s genetic/health history.
