In 2006, bought Petfinder for $35 million. Once acquired, Petfinder was part of Media Enterprises, but was later moved out of Animal Planet and into Discovery Communications' digital media group. Betsy Banks Saul was still involved with Petfinder as were many of Petfinder's original employees. Betsy Banks Saul and Jared Saul are also founding board members of the Petfinder Foundation. ***If an animal at our facility is listed on Petfinder, then they are still available for adoption. Please do not e-mail inquiring if available.***

The Heartland Pet Connection has been serving animals of south central Nebraska since October 2004. Our 5,000 square foot facility provides a safe haven for lost or surrendered pets and an opportunity for many families to find the perfect forever friend. Our mission is ....to serve as a voice for the humane treatment of all animals and better the connection of pets, people and education. Our website furthers our mission by providing ways for you to learn more and get involved. With your help we can make a difference. Pet Haven also takes in Pet Haven “returns.” While Pet Haven works very hard to place cats and dogs in their forever homes, we know that circumstances sometimes require people to make the hard choice to give up their pet. Any animal adopted from Pet Haven is always welcome back into our care should the need arise. The animal goes back into foster care until it can find a new forever home. Pet Haven works with rural rescue groups in Minnesota and Iowa, as well as local animal control facilities to bring in cats and dogs. The rescues Pet Haven partners with are in areas that simply don’t have the people to adopt their cats and dogs. The Twin Cities provide the needed base of adoptive homes to help find forever homes for these animals. We take great pride in finding good homes for our stray and abandoned companion pet friends. All pets available for adoption includes their spay or neuter, up-to-date shots; heartworm checked (dogs), Felv/FIV checked (cats), dewormed, vaccinated, have monthly flea/tick prevention and/or heartworm prevention (dogs).

When coming to adopt an animal please be sure to give you and your family enough time to get to know the pet you are interested in adopting. Also, bring identification (for the application).

Half Way Home Animal Rescue DOES NOT have a shelter, and all animals are awaiting their forever homes in loving foster care; by having pets in foster care, we are able to get a jump start on training, learn their unique personalities and ensure they are a perfect match for you!

All potential parents must fill out an adoption application, have a home inspection and a reference/veterinarian check. Therefore, no animal will be sent home with a potential 'parent' the same day as the request or of the adoption event. ** If you rent your home/apartment please be sure to have a copy of your lease stating that you are legally allowed to have a pet and also if there is a pet weight limit. Also be aware that in many cities and/or towns, there may be statutes stating that certain pets and/or breeds may not be allowed to renters (e.g.. pit bulls) so please call your local city hall to be sure of any laws.
